Description
Nurses practicing drilling . During the months spent at Ft . Benning , nurses of the 21st General Hospital were placed on duty at the Station Hospital and at the same time , carried out a basic training course in military customs , drilling , air raid and gas attack precautions . A large number of the original group of nurses in the unit were associated with the Washington University School of Nursing , Barnes Hospital , and other St . Louis area hospitals .
