Fort Smith Ark. Decr 14t 1862. Major J [Jerome] P. Wilson A A General Major I was assigned to duty to furnish this Army with Breadstufs I have done so to the Amount of 325,000 Pounds and also a lot of Corn - this Amount of Meal has been delivered to the different Divisions and Brigades of this Army according to the orders of Major Thos. Lanagin [Thomas Lanigan] Chf C.S. I have not been able to settle with all the Millers and Agents and also have not received my vouchers for the Amount furnished to the Commissaries of this Army on account of my being ordered to Clarksville [Arkansas] and Dardanele [Dardanelle, Arkansas] to hurey up Provision to this place. I to day recieved order No. 64 ordering me back to my Brigade - I would respectfully request for a suspension of this order for sufficent time to make settlements with the different Millers and Agents and also procure the reciepts for Breadstufs furnished to the different Commisaries of this Army.
