1 Head Quarters Trans-Mississippi District Little Rock Arkansas May 31st 1862 General Orders No 1 } I Persuant to General Orders Nos 59 & 60 from Head Quarters Western Department, the undersigned assumes Command of the "Trans-Mississippi District"", Composed of the States of Missouri and Arkansas, the Indian Territory and that part of Louisiana lying north of Red River and of all the forces which now are or may hereafter be therein. The following Staff is announced: Major Robt. [Robert] C. Newton A.A. Genl. [Assistant Adjutant General] Chief of Staff: Major A. J. McNeill, Aid de Camp: Lieut. J. [Jerome] P. Wilson Aid de Camp: Capt R. A. Hart Acting Asst. Inspector Genl: Major John H Crump Chief Quarter Master: Major John C. Palmer Chief Commissary: Capt John B. Lockman Ordnance Officer: Surgeon James M. Keller, Medical Director Maj F. [Francis] A. Shoup Chief of Artillery Lieut.
