Fort Washita C.N. Sept 1st 1862 Dear Genl. I find that some of the Gentlemen are somewhat uneasy. Enquiry was made of me what you said. I answered that you was very mild and appeared to take things calmly they seam to think that the ax is over them and off will come their heads. I assured them that even handed justice would be delt to all that had done their duty. I wish if you send me orders to forward these troops you would especially order Capt Marshalls Company forward they have been at this post several months, for Reason that it is not necessary to give I think they would be glad to remain. they have been idle long enough. designate any other company to remain here, one company is sufficient to Garrison this post and Camp McColough [Camp McCulloch, Indian Territory].
