Description
As the patient load at the 21st General Hospital started decreasing after V-E Day in May 1945 , American Red Cross workers had time to set up a 'petit P.X. ' on the hood of a jeep in front of the Receiving Office to greet incoming patients and say farewell to discharged patients . The ARC workers gave each soldier cigarettes , candy and gum .
